Our one day Udaipur city tour starts with Jagdish Temple, which is dedicated to the guardian of the universe, Lord Vishnu. This grand temple stands in the City Palace Complex. The entrance to this majestic temple is seen from the Bara Pol of the City Palace.
This splendid palace was built in the year 1559 by Maharana Uday Singh. The palace was further reconstructed and beautified by Uday Singh's successors, who added numerous structures to the original complex. The Palace now has a mixture of Mahals, courtyards, pavilions, corridors, terraces, rooms and hanging gardens.
Lake Pichola hosts thousands of tourists every year because of its serenity and beauty. Skirted by mighty hills, heritage monuments and bathing ghats, it is an ideal destination for photography and nature lovers.
Udaipur's 250-year old Taj Lake Palace is a testament to serenity and magnificence. The superb white marble palace appears to be afloat on the still waters of Lake Pichola and was built in the 18th Century by Maharana Jagat Singh II.
The Fateh Sagar Lake is spread over an area of one square kilometre and is divided into three different islands. The largest of these is called the Nehru Park and which has a boat-shaped restaurant and a small zoo for kids. It also serves as a famous picnic spot. The second island also has a public park but with water-jet fountains.
Jag Mandir hangs in the middle of Lake Pichola. Home to some stunning structures, this palace also includes a garden wherein you will spot some of the most exotic flora. Jag Mandir used to serve as the summer resorts of kings of Mewar. This magnificent monument was built by the members of the Sisodia dynasty.
Saheliyon Ki Bari is a beautiful garden which also serves as a popular tourist spot of our Udaipur 1 day trip. The garden is celebrated for its lush green lawns, marble art and fountains. This famous garden is located on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake and was built in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh for the ladies of the royal family.
Bagore ki Haveli was built in the 18th century beside Lake. Also known as "The Palace of Mirrors", this palace is a brainchild of Amarchand Badwa. The walls of this haveli have been beautified by glasswork and mural paintings of the Mewar region.
